My interest in medicine developed when I was very young. In fifth grade health class I watched the NOVA program "Miracle of Life" and was amazed by the process of human development, from conception to birth.

Read Complete Biography
From that moment I knew I wanted to be a physician, taking care of women and participating in the miracle of human life. Being a women's healthcare provider is both an honor and a privilege which I greatly enjoy. Our getting to know each other is an important part of providing your complete obstetrical and gynecological care. My getting to know you goes well beyond learning your health history to truly understanding your feelings and concerns as we discuss very sensitive, personal issues. Your getting to know me will help you feel comfortable sharing your concerns. I want you to be confident in knowing that you will receive personalized care from someone you can trust. I enjoy traveling and dining with my husband and spending time with my new baby daughter. I appreciate people from various cultures and backgrounds. I love reading a good mystery novel and I especially love to cook, but I don't really like having to clean up afterward.

At the party to celebrate my graduation from medical school my mother beamed as she presented me we a beautifully wrapped box.

Read Complete Biography
Friends and family leaned in curiously as I carefully unwrapped the package. The room erupted into laughter as the bows and paper fell away to reveal my first Doctor's Kit. My mother detailed for the crowd my insistence on taking blood pressures and testing the reflexes of any visitor to our home. During medical school orientation for my Ob/Gyn rotation I was literally on the edge of my seat as we were introduced to delivering babies and gyn surgery. I could not then, nor now, imagine practicing any other type of medicine. I'm a Texan born and bred. I suffered waist high snow drifts for four years and earned a degree from the College of Arts and Letters at The University of Notre Dame. Since then I have headed ever South and West, first attending medical school at Saint Louis University and then to the Valley of the Sun for further training at Phoenix Integrated Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology. Four years of training here convinced me that the palm trees were right- this is paradise. I was thrilled to join Valley Women for Women in the Fall of 2007. As a Mexican American I grew up with Spanish as a language of importance to my family. As such my comprehension has always been strong. I enjoy providing care to both Spanish and English speaking patients. I enjoy spending as much time as my busy schedule allows with family and friends. My husband and I both enjoy taking dance lessons together.

So many people and things influenced me to become a physician.

Read Complete Biography
I was born and raised in Cleveland, OH where hospitals and healthcare were influential entities in part due to the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine with its affiliated hospitals. Though our sports teams often let us down, medicine kept Cleveland competitive in the world arena. My mother gets the credit for my choosing obstetrics and gynecology. Prior to her immigration to the U.S., my mother was a midwife attending deliveries in various districts of central England. Her stories about the deliveries she attended, and the joy shared with families she delivered, biased me towards obstetrics. My eldest sister was often hospitalized due to sickle cell anemia. I watched and often followed the physicians who cared for her as they worked to find the “trigger” for her crises. I was impressed by their compassion, intelligence and great skill as they treated my sister and always returned her home safe and “healed”. Becoming a mother at the age of 17 helped me clarify my career aspirations, accept delayed gratification, and stay motivated when rough times challenged my resolve.

I have always had a strong interest in medicine. I remember wrapping ACE bandages on the family pets and giving them exams with my Fisher-Price medical set, even before I was in kindergarten.

I thought something in orthopedics was bound to be in my future, as I was a competitive gymnast until the age of 16. I realized my calling was to help women with their specialized health concerns while I was in my last year of medical school. Once I witnessed my first c-section delivery, I was hooked on becoming an OB/GYN. Pregnancy is such as special time in a woman’s life. I also enjoy counseling woman on various issues including prenatal care, contraception, managing abnormal pap smears, and performing life improving procedures to manage abnormal uterine bleeding.
I am originally from Colorado, but I grew up in the North Phoenix area, attending Deer Valley High School. I went to Texas for college, but returned to attend Midwestern University: Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Az. I am asked almost on a weekly basis, “Where are you from?” This is due to the accent I gained from my 4 year long residency in Tennessee. I find it amusing that I still can’t seem to shake it, several years later.
My husband and I are the proud parents of two wonderful little girls, who each enrich our lives. Most of my free time is spent with my children, but I also enjoy catching up on my favorite recorded TV shows, reading, and I am an avid cross stitcher. I have previously practiced in the Scottsdale area for 3 years, and now, I am thrilled to be part of Valley Women for Women, since joining the team in June 2009.

My interest in medicine sparked in high school biology class. I soon came to realize that becoming a physician would provide a rewarding and interesting career.

Read Complete Biography

I went onto the University of Arizona (go Cats!) where I received a Bachelors of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Through my volunteer and work experiences I found that in addition to my attraction to the science of medicine, the interpersonal relationship between a physician and patient was also a winning combination. I went to medical school at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale. I was fascinated by obstetrics in the first lecture of my second year. I recognized what an honor and privilege it truly would be to bring life into this world. I took a short side-track into family practice residency for one year at Phoenix Baptist Hospital and decided to change my specialty to ob-gyn. I then went off to Canton, OH for ob-gyn residency. The cold, dark winters brought me back home to sunny Arizona. I have been practicing in the Gilbert area for the last two years and am new to Valley Women for Women. I enjoy practicing full spectrum ob-gyn and especially love to see a woman through pregnancy, delivery, and then long term gyn care.

I am a native of Arizona. My husband, daughter, and I live in Gilbert. When time allows I love hiking, swimming, reading, and spending as much time as possible with family and friends

I was born and raised in Michigan, and lived there my entire life until my move to Arizona in 2005. I always knew I wanted to be in the medical field, but didn't know in what capacity.

Read Complete Biography
While doing college prep courses in high school, I learned of the Physician Assistant role and was very intrigued. This would give me the autonomy and challenge I was looking for, along with the freedom and flexibility to one day raise my own family. I attended Central Michigan University (Go Chips!) for my Bachelors and Masters degrees. The Masters program included 15 months of didactic and 12 months of clinical rotations. Initially going into this program, my ambition was towards pediatrics, but after the women’s health courses and my rotation within an excellent OB/GYN practice, I believed that I had found my niche. My career goal is to provide the best compassionate care for my patients and their families as possible. I enjoy traveling, working out, and playing soccer in a recreational league. Most of my travel is now spent returning to Michigan where the rest of my family still resides. I have a niece and two nephews whom I enjoy spoiling.

Our town had a volunteer ambulance corps, and I joined their youth program when I was 11 years old. There I received my very first medical training, receiving certifications in CPR, First Aid, and Water Rescue. This experience helped me to realize my love of caring for others.

My family moved to Tempe when I was in high school. I attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff and received my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 1997. Maternal/Child nursing has been my passion for the past ten years, as I have specialized in Nursery Intensive Care and Labor and Delivery at Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn. I feel that caring for women and their family members during the amazing moment of childbirth is truly a gift. For the past five years, I have also been a Nursing Supervisor in the Family Birthing Suites at Osborn. Although I have enjoyed my job immensely, I always had a vision of furthering my education and focusing more on preventative medicine in a primary care setting for women. I attended Arizona State University and received my Master's Degree in Nursing with a specialty in Women's Healthcare Nurse Practitioner studies in May 2008. I am excited to be at Valley Women For Women to provide exceptional healthcare to women throughout their lifespan and to promote health and well being.

My husband and I have lived in Gilbert for seven years. We have two daughters, ages 2 and 4. It has been rewarding watching them learn and grow. I also enjoy hiking, camping, traveling, and reading.
